Sweet potato red pepper bisque is one of my favorite recipes from the Ultimate Reset. Since Brian and I completed the Ultimate Reset in July, we have had this seriously like once a week. It is Super Easy to make, delicious & healthy. It doesn’t taste healthy though. I am not the most stellar cook in the world and the Ultimate Reset was an amazing experience for both of us. I can tell you that I used more pots & pans then I had ever done before, but it was actually really simple recipes. They even tasted good lol Which means the instructions were so well written that even I could NOT mess it up!

I had always wanted to cook more vs just throwing things together (you know what I am talking about!) and the Ultimate Reset gave me this opportunity. Not to say the least that I broke through a weight loss plateau and dropped my bad cholesterol (the one that clogs your arteries & gives you a heart attack…) by 22 points. Oh, and we have not eaten a microwave meal since. We were totally a 2-3 microwave meal family a week at times. They were “healthy” ones like Healthy Choice etc, but really how healthy is something in plastic that you microwave.

The Ultimate Reset opened us to many more food options we had not considered which is great as no one wants to keep eating the same old things. Chicken and veggies can get pretty boring! Brian even helped cook & he is the residency sweet potatoes peeler and chopper now. Ok, I will stop rambling & get to the good stuff. Find out more about the Ultimate Reset HERE.

Ultimate Reset – Sweet Potato Red Pepper Bisque


  • 1 Sweet Potato
  • 1/4 red pepper
  • 1 cup vegetable broth or water
  • 1 tsp . finely chopped ginger root
  • 1/2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp. miso paste, diluted in 1 tsp. hot water
  • Add Braggs Liquid Amines, Himalayan salt & herbal seasonings to taste

I have made it with or without the miso paste. It definitely helps to thicken it when you add the miso paste. I also just double this Ultimate Reset recipe as I make it for both Brian & me. Ginger root can be found at our local grocery store. I got the Miso paste from vitacost & by using the link you get $10 off. I also found a lot on Amazon.  Bragg Liquid Amines can be found online at vita cost or I have seen in the organic aisle in Kroger. It is definitely less expensive on vitacost.

Ultimate Reset – Sweet Potato Red Pepper Bisque Directions

Peel the sweet potatos and chop them up. Try to make them cube shaped, but as long as they are small enough so they all cook evenly you are fine. Put them in a pot and cook in boiling water until they are soft. Typically takes 10-15 minutes. I then just drain and put them in the blender.

Pre-heat your oven to 400F and then put the red pepper in. You want to char each side and see it start to get soft. Take 10 minutes or so. Take it out and put it in a bowl and cover immediately with a towel. Cover for about 5 minutes. This is cause it to shrink. Being careful- its hot! Run under cool water and remove the skin. Then cut up the red pepper into small pieces and put into the blender.

Next add the water or vegetable broth, miso paste, ginger and olive oil. I also add my seasonings at this time. I wait on the Braggs amines.

Turn on your blender & blend until smooth. You may or may not need to add a little more water or broth.

I then put back into the pot I used to boil the sweet potatoes (emptied before) and heat up (simmer). If you have the super cool blender, Vitamix (I don’t have yet), you may not need to do this. I typically simmer for 5 minutes and then put into bowls. I then add Bragg Amines to taste.
