Dear Team!

Happy New Year!! I hope 2016 is starting off in a healthy way! If not, no worries, today is a NEW day to make a change!

If it has been awhile, but I just wanted to welcome you again to the community. You have joined an incredibly supportive community of people that are dedicated to improving their health and fitness.

Roasted Winter Vegetable
Roasting makes them sweeter and even more delicious.
Total Time: 1 hr. 5 min.
Prep Time: 25 min.
Cooking Time: 40 min.
Yield: 8 servings- 1 lb. winter squash, peeled, seeded, cut into 1½-inch pieces
– 1 lb. parsnips, peeled, cut into 1½-inch pieces
– 1 large sweet potato, peeled, cut into 1½-inch pieces
– 2 large carrots, cut into 1½-inch pieces
– 2 medium beets, cut into 1½-inch pieces
– 2 medium yellow onions, peeled, quartered
– 5 tsp. olive oil
– 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh thyme (or 2 tsp. dried thyme)
– 1 tsp. sea salt
– ½ tsp. ground black pepper1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
2. Line two large baking sheets with foil; set aside
3. Combine squash, parsnips, sweet potato, carrots, beets, and onions in a large bowl
4. Add oil, thyme, salt, and pepper; toss gently to blend. Divide vegetables between prepared baking sheets
5. Bake, mixing twice, for 35 to 40 minutes, or until tender and golden brown.

Maple Buttercup Shakeology

If you’re craving something sweet in the morning, just whip up this shake. It has a touch of maple syrup and gets extra creaminess from a scoop of peanut butter. This makes a wonderful morning treat, but it can also be a great snack for any other time of day.

1 c unsweetened almond milk
1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
1 Tbsp. all-natural peanut butter
1 tsp. pure maple syrup
1 c ice

Place almond milk, Shakeology, peanut butter, maple syrup, and ice in blender; cover. Blend until smooth.

6 Tips to Kick-Start Your Fitness in 2016

Chances are at some time in your life you’ve made a New Year’s resolution – and then broken it. This year, stop the cycle of resolving to make change and then not following through. If your resolution is to take better care of yourself and get healthy, you will have a much better year if your resolution sticks. Here are some tips to help you get started.

1. Be Realistic
Resolving to NEVER eat your favorite unhealthy food again is setting you up to fail. Instead, strive for a goal that is attainable, such as finding a healthy recipe for that food or working it in to your meal plan occasionally.

2. Talk About It
Don’t keep your resolution a secret. Tell friends and family members who will be there to support your resolve to improve your health. The best-case scenario is to find a buddy who shares your goals and motivate each other.

3. Track Your Progress
Keep a food and exercise journal to help you stay on track, and track your weight and measurements as you go along. Short-term goals are easier to keep, and each small accomplishment will help keep you motivated. Instead of focusing on losing 30 pounds, focus on losing increments of five. Savor “non-scale victories,” like dropping a clothes size and having more endurance.

4. Reward Yourself
Celebrate your success with a treat that doesn’t contradict your resolution, like new fitness clothing or going to a movie with a friend.

5. Don’t Beat Yourself Up
Obsessing over the occasional slip won’t help you achieve your goal. Do the best you can each day, and take one day at a time.

6. Keep Trying
If you mess up, start over again! Recommit yourself for 24 hours. You can do anything for 24 hours. The 24-hour increments will soon build on each other and, before you know it, you will be back on track.
