It’s the Monday after the Super Bowl (well actually tuesday evening as I couldn’t figure out how to upload the html of the newsletter!). Did your team win? Did you stay the course on your healthy eating? Be honest 🙂 Good news! There are tons of ways to get back on track!
Try these 4 tips to get you back into the swing of health.
1) Hydrate like Crazy!!!
Drink a ton of water over the next few days to flush out the bad. Ramp it up because all that fat and salt is floating through your bloodstream and not making friends with your cells or your waistline.
2) Do NOT eat the leftovers!
I know these are around– chips, wings, cold pizza, baked goods and fried food. Get them OUT of the house. Believe me, willpower only goes so far! Stick to complex carbs (quinoa, sweet potatoes), high healthy protein and high vegetable choices. For example have an omelet with vegetables or shakeology with blueberries for breakfast, a salad with chicken and light dressing for lunch and baked chicken or fish with vegetables and brown rice for dinner.
3) Get MOVING!
Yes EVEN when you feel like a food coma, feeling like a slug! Exercise is the best defense against a growing waistline post-Super Bowl. Make sure you hit your target heart rate and mix cardio with weights to burn those excess calories. Some good ones to go for is Tubofire, Insanity Max 30, or 21 day Fix cardio. 4) Plan your next healthy meal
The act of planning helps you gain control and also helps you lose those feelings of guilt. What is done is done, move forward in a positive way Sit down and plan your food for the next few days. Simply planning your next meal is a powerful act of self-care that can remind you that food is not public enemy No. 1. Food is FUEL. Why fuel your body with junk, when you can fuel it with foods that fight disease, help you lose weight and overall make you FEEL better! If you need a jump-start, seriously consider the 3 Day Refresh. One of my challengers month lost 10 lbs and it jumpstarted him making healthy food choices from then on.

I got a sneak peak taste test of it at Coach Leadership in San Diego in October and it was really good (and I am not even a coffee drinker!). 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips or baking squares
Rinse and completely dry strawberries. In a medium microwave safe bowl, microwave chocolate on HIGH for 30 seconds. Stir and repeat until all the chocolate is melted. (Do not overheat or the chocolate will become chunky and separated)

Whether you’re a runner, a gym rat or prefer in-home exercise, the winter exercise blues have a way of hitting everyone. If you’re sitting on the couch and avoiding workouts, here are ideas to get you back on track.
Beat the Boredom
Shake things up by trying a new workout, or asking a friend to join you. Challenge yourself mentally and physically by increasing stamina and strength through more reps, heavier weights, longer holds, etc., or consider adding some new equipment to your routine.
Consider Your Investment

Hazelnut Latte Shakeology

1 scoop Café Latte Shakeology
2 Tbsp. chopped raw hazelnuts

Heart Health Tips

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease accounts for nearly one in every four deaths in the United States and is the No. 1 cause of death in women in the United States. The good news is that most heart disease is preventable.
Although there are risk factors that we cannot control like our family history, our age and gender, we CAN control our lifestyle choices! We can quit smoking, increase our activity level, maintain a desirable body weight, and pay more attention to what we’re eating. Some recommendations:
• Eat more fish! It may sound simple, but it works. We know that foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids may help lower your risk of death from coronary artery disease, and fish are the best natural source of omega-3s.
• Sneak in fiber. Add chia or flax seeds to your smoothies, top desserts and even entrees with whole wheat bread crumbs or chopped nuts. Experiment with whole grain flours in baking.
• Use less salt. Season with spices, fresh herbs, lemon or orange juice, onions and garlic.
• Choose healthy cooking methods. Skip adding fat to packaged rice and pasta mixes. Marinating in citrus juices will reduce high fat in sauces. Grilling and broiling will reduce the fat without sacrificing taste and texture.
