Thank you for visiting my blog! My name is Christina Bove, and I live in Houston, Texas with my wonderful husband Brian, and with my furry “Kids” named Hope (dog) and Katie (cat). This blog is about my never-ending journey to becoming fit and healthy.
If you had asked Brian about a year ago (say about September 2011) if he would ever think that I would start a blog on fitness and health, he would have looked at you like you were absolutely crazy! Or he may have asked you, “How much is this costing us?”
Prior to January 2011, I had tried to get fit and healthy many times. I would start and stop. I even went to a personal trainer. I really liked working with the trainer ansd learned lot but it was pretty expensive. I then left for an year long internship away from my family in Canada. That was rough! Working long hours, sometimes 7 days a week getting in exercise and eating well was a struggle. I joined the gym, but never could go. When I did make it there was I was exhausted after work and did the normal fight for machines with everyone else. Obviously, this was not working! I also missed my family and being depressed my eating habits were to put it “nicely” not stellar. My coworkers did nothing to help brining in lots of goodies. I was telling myself, “I’ll start working out again one day…I’ll eat healthy when I have more money,” etc. etc. I made lots and lots of excuses on why I couldn’t and shouldn’t workout and eat healthy.
Fortunately, I was blessed by God, and he had something in mind for me. I kept on seeing the infomercials late at night for P90X.I know you have seen them! Maybe Insanity? Turbofire? I think I saw it like 50 times before something just clicked. Nothing I was doing was working. I was depressed, gaining weight, stressed out and overall unhappy! I was in my early 30s- life was not not surpossed to be this way! I wanted a vibrant, healthy life and to finally be able to be happy with who I was emotionally and physically. I had struggled since I was a teenager with my weight and has just had it! I decided to get P90X and do it!
So, I figured I should come up with some type of written goal to strive towards (you should too if you haven’t already). My goal would be to become physically fit through daily exercise and through healthy food choices to improve my overall health. I want to live a very long and happy life with my husband and my family free from sickness and disease. But this time was very different. I made the decision to do this for me. In the back of my mind I’m doing this for my husband, for my future kids, but the main reason I’m making this lifestyle change is for me. I’m doing this for me, so I can live a very happy, and long life free from illness and disease. I want to be one of those old ladies to see are physical and mentally fit and live an active lifestyle. I don’t want to have a heart attack in my 50’s (heart disease is the number one killer of women), I don’t want to die from heart disease in my 60’s, I don’t want to develop diabetes, cancer, or any other life threatening diseases. I just want to live; I want to live as long and healthy of a life I can. Despite all of this, I still will struggle at times at maintaining this lifestyle of being fit and healthy. I’m still going to make excuses on why I shouldn’t exercise from time to time. I’m still going to give in and eat that piece of chocolate cake every now and then (there are times when you should splurge and treat yourself to something you normally wouldn’t eat…within reason of course). I’m human, and I’m going to make mistakes. That’s also why it is a Journey; it’s a never-ending trek to becoming fit and healthy.
I wrote down my goal of completing P90X, following the nutrition plan, and added shakeology. I lost weight and inches! I then went on to do Insanity improving my endurance and that as brought me to looking for other things to conquer. I completed my first 1/2 marathon in January 2012 and now I am training for my first marathon. I have inspired my husband and family to get healthy. I became a coach to help others achieve THEIR goals. It was seriously one of the best decisions I have EVER made. I even decided to increase my knowledge by becoming a P90X & Insanity Certified Trainer! Besides the physical change, I am a more positive person and my relationship with Brian is the strongest it has ever been!
